Writing in Text Boxes in iConnect

Introduction:

Clear and thorough documentation is essential to the work we do every day. At times, we are tasked with capturing a significant amount of information within a limited space, such as the text boxes in iConnect. APD relies on these text boxes throughout iConnect for a variety of purposes, including provider service logs, progress notes, Implementation Plans, and Person-Centered-Support Plans. Understanding how to make the most of these fields helps ensure that our documentation remains accurate, organized, and meaningful.

Text Boxes:

  • Text Boxes in iConnect can be found in:
    1. Forms
    2. Provider Documentations
    3. Medication Entries
    4. Planned Services
    5. Contacts Entries
    6. Provider Selection Entries
  • They have character limitations.
    1. Some boxes will tell you how many characters are left.
    2. Spaces count towards the character limit.
    3. The limit differs depending on each form and area of the application.
    • Entering down will also affect the character limit.

    1. Some boxes can expand to give more viewing area for ease of reading.
      • This does not increase the built-in character limit.


    2. If you are getting close to the maximum number of characters allowed in a text box, review the following:
      • Can any unnecessary spaces be removed?
      • Can I continue writing on the same line versus pressing Enter to move down?
      • Is all the information included essential for the section?
      • Is there outdated information that can be removed?
      • Are there unnecessary words that can be removed?
      • Can I combine closely related ideas into one sentence?
