Programmatic Supports

At the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD), Programmatic Supports are services and/or tools that help ensure individuals with disabilities receive the right care and assistance at the right time. These supports are designed to help people live as independently as possible, stay safe, and access the services they need to thrive in their communities. At APD these services can fall into two categories, Supported Living or Supported Employment.

Supported Living

Supported Living is a service designed to help individuals with disabilities live independently in their own homes or apartments. It includes training, assistance, and support in areas like budgeting, cooking, shopping, household management, and accessing community resources. Find out more by visiting our Supported Living page.

Supported Employment

Supported Employment is a service that provides assistance in obtaining and maintaining competitive, integrated employment for individuals with disabilities. The goal is to help individuals achieve meaningful employment based on their strengths, interests, and capabilities in the most integrated setting possible. Find out more by visiting our Supported Employment page.

Transportation Services

Transportation is provided for clients traveling to and from their home and community-based waiver services. This service is designed to help clients access the approved supports and services outlined in their support plans. Transportation services are available when natural, unpaid supports, such as family members or volunteers, are not available. Transportation may be provided through specialized providers, public transit, or reimbursement options, depending on individual needs and eligibility.
