Accessibility

The Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) is committed to providing accessible information in a format that is equally available to all individuals. In designing and creating its website, APD has chosen to implement the accessibility guidelines and principles of section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (29 U.S.C. 794d).

APD has developed this website with numerous features designed to improve accessibility. These features are described below:

  • Images on the site contain "alt tags" that describe them, aiding users with visual impairments who listen to the content of the site by using screen reading software.
  • Text and background colors are required to be high contrast.
  • Audio and video clips are accompanied by plain text scripts or have closed captioning.
  • Access Keys are provided for the website:
    • 0 – Accessibility
    • 1 – Home
    • 2 - Skip to Content
  • All web pages are tested for compliance with accessibility standards and to identify possible barriers to accessibility in web pages.

APD welcomes comments on how to improve this website’s accessibility to all visitors. Our Agency ADA contact can be reached at (850) 414-6666. If you use assistive technology and the format of any material on our website interferes with your ability to access the information, we encourage you to notify us.
