State Office


APD is headquartered at the State Office in Tallahassee, whose contact info is below. It was formerly known as the Central Office. The State Office houses three divisions and five offices which are vital to the functioning of the agency and report to the agency director. They and the units they contain are listed below.

Division of Operations – Division of Operations: APD’s regional offices and Developmental Disabilities Centers (DDC’s) report to this division. This division also includes residential planning, incident reports, group home licensing, provider terminations, exemptions, community supports and employment.

Division of Programs – This division is responsible for the development and oversight of the agency's Medicaid waiver programs, including the new iBudget Florida waiver. This also includes nursing and behavioral services oversight and support. It includes the offices of Quality Assurance, Waiver Policy and Implementation, Employment and Training, and the Consumer-Directed Care Plus program.

Division of Budget, Planning, and Administration – This division directs the budgeting and infrastructure functions of the agency. It includes the offices of Financial Services, Support Services, and several specialized functions.

Office of the Chief of Staff – This office directs several key functions that are critical to the agency's success. It includes the offices of Communications, Legislative Affairs, and Human Resources.

Office of Performance and Accountability – This office develops performance improvement and long-range plans for the agency.

Office of Information Technology – This office, commonly referred to as "IT," is responsible for the workstation and enterprise-level computing systems for the agency. It includes the offices of Information Security, Data Processing, and ABC Customer Support.

Office of General Counsel – This office includes the agency's legal staff as well as the agency clerk function.

Office of Inspector General – This office investigates allegations of illegal and unethical behavior within the agency.
