Cover Florida: The Access to Health Care Floridians Deserve
By Charlie Crist
Governor, State of Florida
Affordable, quality health insurance is now available to Florida’s 3.8 million uninsured. Each of the six insurers offers at least two plans – a preventive care plan and a catastrophic plan with hospital coverage.
Without using tax dollars, two carriers are available statewide, and additional providers serve Broward, Flagler, Miami-Dade and Volusia counties. Options allow you to choose the plan right for you.
To qualify, applicants must be age 19 to 64 and without health insurance for six months, or have recently lost employer-sponsored benefits. Coverage is guaranteed if you have pre-existing health conditions, and four of the six companies cover children under age 19. Policyholders can even keep plans when changing jobs.
Cover Florida benefits include preventive services and office visits, as well as office surgery, urgent care, prescription drugs, durable medical equipment, and diabetic supplies. Costs vary, depending on age, gender and choice of preventive care or catastrophic and hospital coverage.
